Valentine Antique Gallery - Art Deco
Art Deco began in the early years of the 20th century, but didn't really take hold until after World War I. Its popularity peaked during the Roaring Twenties and lasted until the 1940's. Art Deco was purely decorative, and at the time, this style was seen as elegant, functional, and ultra modern. Characteristics of Art Deco are zig zag lines resembling lightning bolts, sharp contracting colors and linear geometric designs. Art Deco was used in the design of furniture, decorative items, jewelry, glass, pottery and many other items.
